Family Constellation Vienna
Family Constellation – Systemic work in an individual setting
Family constellation work is a systemic coaching method that explores how individuals are embedded in relational systems — families, partnerships, organizations, and inner value structures. The approach was significantly shaped by Virginia Satir, one of the pioneers of systemic family therapy, and later developed further in various systemic traditions.
“Problems are not in people — they are in the patterns between people.”
Virginia Satir
Family constellation work assumes that many emotional reactions, conflicts, or inner tensions are connected to systemic dynamics that operate outside conscious awareness. These dynamics can influence behavior, decision-making, and emotional regulation long after their original context has changed.
Individual constellation work
In my practice, family constellation work takes place exclusively in individual sessions, not in groups. This allows for a confidential, focused, and psychologically safe setting.
Using spatial representations, objects, and guided reflection, relational structures and inner positions are externalized. This often leads to:
-
insight into recurring relationship patterns
-
relief from emotional blockages
-
clarification of inner conflicts
-
a stronger sense of personal positioning
-
improved inner coherence and calm
Research & systemic perspective
Systemic therapy and family systems theory are well-established fields within psychotherapy and counseling research. Concepts such as relational patterns, emotional regulation within systems, and transgenerational influence are supported by findings from family therapy research, attachment theory, and psychosomatic studies.
In coaching, family constellation methods are not about assigning blame or interpreting fate. They are tools for understanding relationships — internally and externally — and for restoring balance and agency.
“Change comes from understanding, not from pressure.”
Virginia Satir
Sessions take place in Vienna and are always conducted one-on-one, with a clear focus on integration, clarity, and sustainable change.
